The challenge
Mauritius imports much of its food. Small, well-run farms that combine different activities on the same land are one way to grow more locally.
Growers also make their biggest decision — what to plant — months before they know what the market will pay, with little data to go on.
What has been built
- 01
Building the farm step by step
The project is developing its land and activities in stages. Updates and photographs of the work will be published here as the farm grows.
- 02
Planting decisions based on data
The questions the farm faces — what to plant this month, when it will be harvested, what it is likely to sell for — led to the free Mauritius Plant Wholesale Intelligence tool, which puts wholesale prices, the planting calendar and season risk side by side.
- 03
Applying operational tools
The same thinking used in Jordan’s software work — clear records, simple workflows and decisions based on information — is applied to planning and running the farm.
Outcome and status
The project is in development. Partners, suppliers and buyers are welcome to get in touch.
