Mauritius Scout Association website
Scoutsmauritius.org is the website of the Mauritius Scout Association, which has run scouting in Mauritius since 1912. Jordan built and maintains the website as a volunteer: the public site, a content management system for the Association’s team, and a members’ area. This is community work, not a commercial engagement, and does not imply endorsement by the Association.

The challenge
Parents, young people and adult volunteers need a simple way to understand what scouting offers at each age and how to find a local group.
The Association’s team also needs to publish news, events and resources themselves, without a developer for every change.
The contribution
- 01
Clear sections by age
Cubs (8–11), Scouts (11–15), Ventures (15–19) and Rovers (20–25), each explained in plain language.
- 02
Group finder
A way to find scout groups across six regions, including Rodrigues.
- 03
Content the team can manage
News, events, the Association’s history and people, governance, resources and a gallery, all edited by the Association’s team in a content management system.
- 04
Joining, volunteering and members
Pages for joining and volunteering, and a members’ area with sign-in.
How it is built
- Stack
- Next.js with the App Router and Payload CMS 3 on PostgreSQL, with rich-text editing and cloud file storage.
- Security and performance
- Database access rules locked down, rate limits on the public forms, and search and performance improvements. Production runs on a dedicated server, with a separate staging environment kept out of search.
Current status
The website is live and presents the Association’s activities across Mauritius and Rodrigues.
